Raft:  We have a lot of great whitewater real close to home!  Class II thru Class IV is available for you  right here in the Roaring Fork Valley.  We also have a full day trip on Browns Canyon that includes at beautiful scenic drive over Independence Pass, which can be perfect if you are looking for a longer day and if you have never been over the Continental Divide.

Jeep:  We are offering Independence Pass tours, as wells as modified Gold Hill tours taking guests up to the current snow line.  We expect Lenado to open up soon.  Please call us for current jeep tour options/conditions.

Bike:  All of our bike trips are available.  Maroon Bells are open and beautiful as always.  We are riding the Rio Grande Trail down to Woody Creek.  We also have Singletrack Mtn Biking for all experience levels.

Hikes:  Trails are clearing and drying up daily with these warm days.  We can do ½ day Beginner and Intermediate Hikes.  ¾ Day Intermediate Hikes are up to the snow line, which is receding daily.

Sunset Dinners:  The cabin is ready and the roads are dry.  We are having beautiful evenings which make for perfect dinners on the mountain.

Springtime on the Roaring Fork

May 20th, 2013

Spring is an exciting time of year if you are a whitewater enthusiast. This year is no exception. While most of the Roaring Fork Valley was swearing at the cold weather and snow during April and early May, the rafting community was high-fiving each other. Aspen Mountain received 4 feet of snow since the lifts closed in mid-April!

The snowpack in the valley is currently above normal and significantly higher than last year. What all this means is we are going to have a great runoff and excellent early season rafting conditions. We are fortunate to have one of the best Class IV runs in the state right in our backyard at Slaughterhouse. This is an action packed run from the start with Entrance Exam, one of the best rapids of the trip, kicking things off only a couple of minutes into the adventure. The action is consistent and the paddling is busy all the way through to the takeout in Woody Creek. The put-in is a 5 minute drive from downtown Aspen which makes it very convenient. This trip should be runnable through most of June but the peak times will be the first couple weeks of June. The recent cold spell will help prolong the season as well.

If you are looking for a slightly milder adventure the Upper Roaring Fork is a great Class III run that begins at the Slaughterhouse takeout. This is still an exciting trip and you will get soaked at many of the great rapids such as Barking Dog, Toothache, and Snowmass Hole.

All in all, we couldn’t be more excited for the upcoming season. Great water, great weather, and great times are ahead of us. Reserve online, contact or call us today at 970.923.4544 to book your trip!
