Our tour begins with a drive to the “most photographed peaks in North America” – the Maroon Bells and Maroon Lake. At Maroon Lake there will be time for photographs and to talk about the local wildlife. After everyone has limbered up, you will begin your 12-mile downhill descent on a paved road through the Maroon Valley. Along the way, you are welcome to stop and enjoy the spectacular views, and to photograph one of the most picturesque wilderness areas in Colorado. Your trip finishes in Aspen. We will stop for a refreshing snack along the way. The Maroon Bells road is closed to most vehicular traffic for the majority of the summer and affords a perfect opportunity to enjoy your downhill bike ride.
First we will jeep you to the historic Burlingame Cabin located on Snowmass Mountain. There you can take an extended jeep tour, or just sit back and let us tend to all your needs. We'll have a delicious dinner hot off the grill, a campfire, live music, and S'mores. Watch the sun drop behind the mountain ranges that extend across the Roaring Fork Valley.
Class II & III, mid to late season: A half day trip in inflatable kayaks, also known as "duckies", which are a hit with thrill seekers, yet easy to master. Perfect as an introduction to kayaking and makes smaller whitewater more exciting.
Our most popular trip has withstood the test of time and boasts excellent Class III whitewater, followed by a stunning and scenic relaxing float within steep majestic canyon walls. These rapids, with names like “Superstition”, “The Wall”, and “Pinball”, create an exhilarating section of unforgettable white water. The first section has Class III rapids and then declines to Class II & I as we focus on the beautiful scenery in the canyon. Younger children and less adventuresome adults can enter the rafts after the first set of larger rapids.
