  • Upper Roaring Fork - AM Half Day

    The Upper Roaring Fork was named Thunder River by Ute Indians to describe the rumbling sound that begins in early spring. This early season trip begins just 5 miles outside of Aspen at the Woody Creek Bridge and ends 3 miles above Basalt. Total river distance is 8 miles. This section features beautiful scenery and wildlife, and exceptional whitewater on class III rapids. This section’s close proximity to Aspen and Snowmass means that very little transportation time is involved. Good for beginners as well as experienced rafters.

It features some of the most technical boulder gardens in Colorado. Technical and continuous paddling required – experienced rafters only! Charge rapids like the infamous six-foot waterfall drop (a professional photographer awaits to capture your plummet).

    Our most popular trip has withstood the test of time and boasts excellent Class III whitewater, followed by a stunning and scenic relaxing float within steep majestic canyon walls. These rapids, with names like “Superstition”, “The Wall”, and “Pinball”, create an exhilarating section of unforgettable white water. The first section has Class III rapids and then declines to Class II & I as we focus on the beautiful scenery in the canyon. Younger children and less adventuresome adults can enter the rafts after the first set of larger rapids.

This trip features some exceptionally beautiful scenery with great rapids with names like “Siedel’s Suckhole” and “Zoom Flume.” This trip features some exceptionally beautiful scenery both on the river and during the ride to the river, and some of the best whitewater to be found anywhere in the state. Six miles of Class IV rapids on the Arkansas River.You will run the section in small boats that accommodate 6 paddlers.
